Concentrated solar power systems

Concentrated solar power systems (CSP) use specular surfaces (vega energy WR) to direct on small collectors the sunlight incident on large area

CSP technologies are suited for high irradiation areas as they only harvest the direct component of sunlight. Electricity can be generated using concentrating mirrors to focus sunlight on collectors, raising the temperature of a heat-transfer fluid to drive a turbine connected to a generator (solar thermal energy).
Parabolic trough collector CSP technology is one the most widespread. Vega energy is thin, light and resistant; moreover, it is easy to shape into curved mirrors as needed. The material can be delivered in large sheets to reduce joints, which would increase the efficiency of the system.
