IKEA Singapore inaugurated the realization of the large-scale solar cooling system in Singapore converting solar heat into air conditioning for its store and warehouse. The 2,472sqm facility produces about 1.587 MWh of solar heat per year, which delivers energy for an 880kW absorption chiller. With its 15m³ buffer storage, the solar system reduces the power consumption significantly and also helps to reduce expensive electricity costs. In addition, 428 tons of CO2 are avoided each year. This corresponds to about 200 scheduled flights from Singapore to Sydney.
Almeco group has provided for the realization of the project 2500m² of its absorber material “TiNOX energy AL”.
